Presentation Overview
Our thoughts and the words that we use and hear have a demonstrably emotional, neurological,
and biological effect on us, for better or for worse. Some of the negative effects
on our emotional and physical health are temporary, but they can become chronic
patterns and result in virtually every complaint and symptom that brings clients
and patients into treatment.
If we leave it to chance, our thoughts and words are more likely to have a detrimental
effect on ourselves and others than they are to have a positive effect.
This talk will explain the pathways by which these effects occur, referencing contemporary
neuroscience and other disciplines, and it will teach the participant how to become
mindful in the use of language so as to intentionally have a positive, healing effect
on clients and patients during every conversation. Specific language and its healing
qualities will be discussed.
