"The subconscious mind much more readily forms habits than it changes them."
"To transform a problem means that the energies that have kept that problem up and
running and in place have been freed up. The result is a new, balanced, and healthy
homeostasis that is lasting. It is a good habit."
"As a consequence of Tranceformation, your mind loses all interest in the undesirable
habit; it has forgotten how to have it."
Tranceformation was developed by
David Kohlhagen as the result of over fifteen years of training and study in the
art and science of hypnosis and hypnotherapy, and over thirty years of professional
work as a psychotherapist.
Tranceformation is the use of psychotherapeutic
and hypnotherapeutic tools and processes to resolve problems, issues, concerns,
conflicts, interpersonal difficulties,
habitual behaviors of every kind, distress, unresolved grief and loss, the trauma
of sexual or physical abuse, neglect, violence, bullying in adulthood or childhood,
and the full spectrum of acquired physical, medical and health problems (1) (2) at their very source,
releasing your energies for healing and for productive, invigorating, creative living.
Using "trance" in place of "trans" in the word "transformation" acknowledges that
the tranceformative work takes full advantage of what we know about how the mind
works, and specifically about how the mind behaves during trance states and during
habit formation. In Tranceformation this valuable knowledge is applied to
the process of transforming negative emotional and behavioral patterns and habits
into positive ones.
Habit Patterns and Subconscious Mind
Over time, our psychological and health problems and conditions can come to take
on a stable structure and form, like all of our other habits. That is because our
total biochemical, cellular, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual self (1)
(2) is
always seeking balance, or homeostasis (or allostasis, in holistic terms). Our total
self wants our world to feel whole and familiar and to be predictable from one day
to the next. The mind forms habits in order to take care of what it perceives to
be our needs. As a consequence our mind forms a multitude of habitual ways for us
to feel, react, and behave. Our life develops wear patterns.
The mind can be so resistant to permitting even small changes in these habits that
the task can feel impossible. The vast majority of attempts to change habits end
in failure. That is because habits spring from the way the subconscious mind naturally
works, and from the ways it takes care of us and ensures our survival from one day
to the next. The subconscious mind much more readily forms habits than it changes
them: it uses them to protect us from harm and from perceived harm. Therefore, habits
do not readily follow the directions of the conscious mind, or will.
Tranceformed Habits Cannot Return
Working directly with the natural characteristics and tendencies of the subconscious
mind (1)
(2)
(3)
(4),
and communicating with it in its own language and on its own terms, Tranceformation
gets the subconscious mind to release unwanted habitual feelings and behavior at
their source. To transform a problem means that the energies that have kept that
problem up and running and in place have been freed up, allowing your feelings and
behavior to become
naturally positive and self-affirming. The undesirable habit, tendency,
or effect is transformed into desirable, self-enhancing feelings and behavior by
your mind and your body without you having to do any additional work. This is because
the mind and body-or bodymind-knows how to heal itself and it knows how to perform
in a whole, healthy way, once the obstacles (bad habits) are cleared up. The result
is a new, balanced, and healthy homeostasis that is lasting. It is a good habit.
Once the subconscious mind has shifted habitual feelings and behavior, the resulting
habit change is permanent. This is because the memories and other impressions that
created and nurtured the habit are cleared of their distressing effects and of their
confusing and inaccurate associations, conclusions, and meanings. As a consequence
of Tranceformation, your mind simply loses all interest in the undesirable
habit-it has forgotten how to have it. Once tranceformed, the negative habitual
feelings and behavior can never come up again, even in situations that were guaranteed
at one time to trigger them.
Furthermore, any memory or impression that has been cleared of negative feelings
and associations no longer has the power to cause what people erroneously refer
to as "reliving" traumatic life events. The nightmare is over. All of the distressing
effects of traumatic memories are gone. They have been cleared. Tranceformed habits
cannot return because you cannot relive your life. Your life starts today, and it
is fresh, free and full of possibility.
