"You will feel new."
"Nothing that has ever been can prevent something from being possible for you now."
"Conventional wisdom is what we collectively take to be reality, even though it
is only our reality, not the reality. It is our definitions, descriptions, and limitations
on what is true or possible."
"All beliefs are limiting, except one. That one is that you are limitless."
The goal of this book and this work is freedom, wholeness, and well-being. The tranceformational
understandings, principles, and tools outlined in Force of Habit can help you to
experience the reality and the benefits of freedom from unwanted habits of mind,
body and behavior, and to experience the power of connection with yourself on the
deepest levels. It is a path of liberation from unnecessary limitations. It is a
means by which you can become one with the true self that you always have been.
You have everything you need already. Tranceformation effectively clears habits
regardless of how long they have been in place and regardless of where they came
from.
Many habits clear up quickly, whether you're doing the work yourself, with a friend
or with a mental health professional. I have often cleared longstanding habits with
someone in a single Tranceformation session. Each step in the process has its purpose
and its beneficial effects, and there is no feeling worse before you feel better.
Every step is positive, every step is freeing. You will feel different; you will
feel new.
Your Possibilities
Our possibilities may be literally endless. As long as we are in a physical body
and in a physical lifetime there is a next level of learning for us. You can go
out for recess and you can have nap time, but school is never out. There is always
something more that we can learn about what is possible for us. And regardless of
what we have already accomplished we are constantly at the beginning of our path,
because each of us is on an individual path and because today is always the first
day of the rest of our existence. Our next step is always right in front of us.
That's not very far to look.
Furthermore, the time is always now. Nothing that has ever been can prevent something
from being possible for you now. You are limitless.
This book is about taking out the garbage, cleaning off the windshield, adjusting
the carburetor and enjoying your life in the natural and powerful way that it is
meant to be enjoyed. When the garbage has been taken out, the windshield cleaned
and the carburetor adjusted everything about you naturally knows exactly how to
function and flow in the most beneficial way for you. Force of Habit isn't about
adding anything to you; it is about getting rid of what you don't need; it is about
letting go of everything that has nothing to do with you.
Conventional Wisdom and Stress
In order to move beyond our limitations and into greater freedom and new possibilities,
we have to step outside of the always artificial and ultimately temporary boundaries
of our conventions. How do we get outside of our own conventions? Your mind has
to let you. Your mind is the gatekeeper of your experience and of your personal
reality. Your mind will allow you to step into greater experiences when you have
learned that you can let go of your present limited, confining and restricted perception
of reality.
Conventions
Conventions are the building blocks of our reality. Our conventions limit what we
see and experience. We see the world through the lens of our conventions and not
as it actually is. A lens in front of our eyes is like blinders on the face of a
work horse. We don't see the world, we see our world. That is because what we look
at and what we see is not the same thing. Through our lens we see what we expect
to see. Today looks just like yesterday. We typically see, think and experience
life "inside the box."
There are conventions for everything people see, think, experience and do, including
making war on each other. There are conventions for what we perceive and for what
we believe. Conventional wisdom is what we collectively take to be reality, even
though it is only our reality, not the reality. It is our definitions, descriptions,
and limitations on what is true or possible.
As true, real, predicable, consistent and timeless as our personal world always
seems to us, ironically that reality has gradually changed over time as our culture's
beliefs have changed. The shifting sands of belief and thought throughout human
history is all the evidence we need that every one of our conventions is temporary,
incorrect, and subject to an ongoing evolutionary process of gradually becoming
obsolete and inadequate to explain the world and our experience in it. Life is not
a theory; it is a constantly changing, multidimensional and ultimately inexplicable
adventure. If you want to be in line with fundamental reality-and therefore healthy,
balanced and free-you must always keep an open mind.
All beliefs are limiting, except one. That one is that you are limitless.
